About River Runners

River Runners started rafting the American River in 1973. We were one of the first to offer whitewater rafting in California. Our philosophy has been to keep our company small which permits us to offer safe and quality trips. We want our customers to enjoy the experience, not wait in long food lines or camp in a crowded campsites like the mega-rafting companies.

Our guides are professional and fun. You won’t find a better bunch of guys and gals than our staff.

Our private campground is in a beautiful wilderness setting along the bank of the American River. We have a fully equipped kitchen, and modern bathrooms with hot showers, flush toilets and electricity. A camp store nearby stocks nearly anything else you might need.

In addition to giving you a fun and enjoyable rafting ride, we also believe in providing you with great food (All You Can Eat!) and many other activities throughout your stay.

In our 34 years we have:

  • Survived 2 floods
  • Lost 1,600 paddles on the river
  • Prepared 180,000 meals
  • Completely worn out 7 Chevy Suburbans and 5 vans and 4 school buses
  • Laughed at 700 of Dan Little’s bad jokes
  • Found 1,200 towels left in the showers
  • Christened 426 rafts
